Task Lighting: Design with purpose
MINDFUL is the industrial FLAT-PACKABLE laptop stand with warm under light designed for late night work time to increase productivity and ergonomic use.

For this project, we were tasked with creating "Purposeful Lighting." I defined this as light sources that aid in daily tasks that add beauty into the environment.
This was a mind map I created to determine trends in lighting and where I derived my product objective.
Concept Exploration
I was inspired by the shapes of folding paper and the intersections of flat planes. I knew that using led strips would be the best way to remain cohesive with this flat form.
The Final Product: Mindful
This laptop stand is the perfect height to correct posture and the under-light helps create a productive environment. The aluminum build allows for a professional look while the pop of orange brings the fun.
Fabrication
The metal structure was printed from one flat file that slots together.
The slide switch on the side is the only 3D printed piece.
The orange electronic housing was made from a acrylic laser cut file and glued together but could be thermoformed in further manufacturing.
