The Third-Party Garage Sale
As a part of our efforts to solve furniture and home goods waste, our group set out to develop an app to store, sell, and dispose of these items safely in densely populated areas.

Understanding the Problem
We defined our user group by trying to understand where the gap in the current market is.

Our initial research consisted of over 50 survey responses and 20 in-person interviews. From this research, we were able to pinpoint why our target group would choose to trash their furniture/ household items, what types of items they choose to trash, and what they wish to gain from getting rid of items.

Research Question:
How can individuals facing tight schedules and limited access to storage or transportation be supported in sustainably managing usable items during residential move-outs?
Our Product:
Our app is a third-party garage sale platform designed to simplify the way people buy, sell, and move secondhand goods locally. By combining a user-friendly marketplace with on-demand mover services, we empower users to declutter or furnish their spaces conveniently and sustainably. Whether you're offloading items before a move or picking up a new find, our app makes it easy to handle everything—from listing to lifting.
